Florida Exotic Pest Plant Definitions

An exotic plant has been introduced to Florida, either purposefully or accidentally, from a natural range outside of Florida.

A naturalized exotic plant is one that sustains itself outside of cultivation (it is still exotic; it has not "become" native).

An invasive exotic plant not only has become naturalized, but it is expanding its range in Florida plant communities.
